Code of Conduct

Below is a list of standing rules regarding safety and conduct. Any participant of The Battle’s Call Adventure is required to accept these terms and conditions upon purchasing a ticket. This list is subject to change if amendments need to be made. Should any changes take place, all those who currently are registered will be notified so as to be made aware. The Battle’s Call Adventure reserves the right to eject any player from the game for violating any of, but not limited to, the following policies.

Spirit of the Event

Maintaining immersion is a group effort. Our rules cannot account for all possibilities and it is possible to break immersion without breaking the rules. Therefore maintaining the spirit of the event is important and requires the conscious effort of all participants. Sometimes this means restraining yourself for the sake of others. The goal is not to win, but to have a quality shared experience.

We are also guests on the property that we are using. These rules can be expanded upon if necessary in order to maintain and respect the property we are using.

Garb/Clothing Rules

Immersion is a key part of the experience, and appropriate clothing/garb plays an important role in creating that atmosphere. All participants are required to wear medieval or low-fantasy medieval attire throughout the event. Garb should be suitable for a family-friendly environment and maintain the overall theme of the adventure. Your appearance helps shape not only your own experience, but also the immersion and enjoyment of those around you.

Tickets

This is a rain-or-shine event. All tickets are non-refundable

Photography and cell phones

Once game “begins”, all electronic devices should kept out of sight until game "ends". We have a professional photographer who will be taking pictures, and all pictures will be made available via email to all attendees. You are welcome to take photos before game begins or after it ends, but during the event the only electronic devices that should be visible is the photographers. This helps create greater immersion (you wouldn’t expect to see 12th century warriors checking on social media between battles).

Age

All attendees of the The Battle’s Call Adventure must be at least 18 years of age. Exceptions can be made for minors who are 17 years of age, but all exceptions must be reviewed by an Adventure Arena manager before being allowed, and is done on a case-by-case basis. Anyone outside of this exception found to be in violation of this policy will be asked to leave the event.

Pet Policy

There are no pets allowed for this event, unless a trained and designated service animal. If this is the case, please contact the event coordinators regarding this

Actual Weapons

No actual/real life weapons are allowed to be brought onto the grounds for this event. The only weapons should be the sparring “weapons” that we use for combat.

Some vendors have permission to sell real swords, knives, axes, or similar. If purchased, these will be kept at the vendor's booth until the end of the event when purchasers can retrieve these.

Fires and Smoking

Should conditions permit, designated staff are allowed to set and monitor campfires in designated places on the grounds. All other fires are prohibited

There is no smoking allowed at this event, that includes smoking cigarettes, pipes, etc.

Alcohol

This is a one-day event and is a dry event. No alcohol is permitted on the grounds

Drugs

No illegal drugs are allowed at The Battle’s Call Adventure. PERIOD. In the event that illegal drugs are discovered, attendees connected to them will be ejected from the game, and the authorities will be contacted. Any prescription should be in its original bottle with the name of its intended owner clearly visible.

Theft

We encourage all attendees to lock valuables in their vehicles whenever possible. Please do not leave any valuables lying out and visible in the camping or play areas unattended. The Battle’s Call Adventure, staff, volunteers, and the property owners are not liable for any lost or stolen property during the event. Any found property can be given to an staff/volunteer, and the staff will do their best to locate it's owner. If a player has lost an item, please ask a staff or volunteer to check if it has been found.

In-Game Stealing

There are some in-game items that are stealable during the event. These will be tied with a purple ribbon. If an item is not tied with a purple ribbon, DO NOT STEAL IT as it most likely belongs to a private individual.

Stealable items cannot be stolen/taken from someone’s hand. If they are holding it, or has been tied onto their person by means of leather ties or tucking it into their belt, this counts as if they are holding it. If they put this item down, then you can steal it. If a player with a stealable quest item is slain, you can take the quest item from them. Also, should this person be slain, then they are required to give it to you if you are still “alive” in game, whether this is on the battle-field or between events. Example: you kill someone on the battlefield, but then you get slain immediately after, you cannot take the quest item from the person you slew. Even if a player has a stealable object, combat is still not allowed under or near tents.

Harassment

No one shall, for any reason, make unrequested sexual or physical advances or harassing statements toward any other person in any way for any reason.
• The Battle’s Call Adventure has zero tolerance for this behavior and anyone exhibiting this behavior will be expelled from the event and will be escorted off the property without refund.
• If you are being harassed or see harassment taking place, report this to an NPC or Faction leader for immediate action.
• The Battle’s Call Adventure has the right and responsibility to provide a safe place for all participants. The Battle’s Call Adventure reserves the right to dismiss a player for any reason whatsoever.

Wildlife

While unlikely, you may encounter wildlife.
• Do not feed or try to pet the wildlife, even if they seem friendly.
• Pay attention when you are in wild areas. Look. Listen.
• Stay away from dead animals you find in the wild.
• Stay away from young animals you find in the wild.
• Be mindful as it is possible to encounter creatures like wasps
• Ticks can be found outside

Property Lines

We are guests on this property and should respect both the property and that we are not given use of the entire property. If you come upon a barbed wire fence, this is also a boundary line, do not cross any barbed-wire fences as you may be going on someone else’s property. Further details on the extent of the property being used for the Battle’s Call Adventure will be clarified at the event and/or via email. Players are expected to do their best to not stray outside of described boundaries of the event. You can ask an NPC if you have questions regarding boundaries. If in doubt, don’t explore an area if it seems like it would be out-of-bounds.

Note: no combat should take place within 10 feet of barbed wire. Should a fight start moving within this range, players should call a “Stop Fight” so that the players can move to a safer distance before resuming combat.

Combat and Weapons

See the Combat Rules for full list and explanations of combat. There should be no actual physical contact, including but not limited to punching, kicking, grappling, body checks, etc.

All weapons (sparring weapons) and shields must be made by a professional manufacturer. No homemade, offer, or modified (except cosmetically) weapons are allowed. Weapons must be of the foam-latex or foam injection-molded type. For bows: The max allowable Draw-weight is 35# @28". All bows should be medieval-type or period-appropriate bows. No modern or compound bows are allowed.

All weapons being brought for use need to be approved via email at adventurearenaswords@gmail.com. Furthermore all weapons being brought will need to be inspected at check-in for safety.

Remember: no combat is allowed within camp areas/within 4 ft of guy wires or tents. Non-combatants and members of the Archer’s Company are not allowed to be attacked, even if they are carrying a quest item.
At the end of the event, please turn in all items you still have and all rental weapons or other equipment to the check-in table.

Choosing to participate and be present at the Battle's Call Adventure means you agree to follow these rules while on the grounds and/or participating. This helps to create a safe and epic experience for all
